Well, time is marching on and we are almost at the finish line with Skylab 2.

Only a few small jobs to go, The tail lights need checking, a second safety chain, and a few nuts and bolts here and there.

Then I will take it over the weighbridge empty to establish our base weight.

Our max weight will be 750 kg fully loaded.

Solar Panels are on, we also have 2 folding panels to chase the sun and charge our 240ah battery.

This is Mk 1 of the ladder handles so the love of my life has something to make her feel safer at the top of the ladder.

Skylab2

Pip,,,,, Well, here it is, almost ready for a commissioning ceremony.

Next weekend.   Attach more Solar Panels,, fix tail lights,,, paint,,, and install jerry can holders,, then tidy up.

Vik,,,,,, Hi Peeps, Pip and I have put our heart and soul into this project, and we are happy to say that a few little things left to be done, and it's finally finished.. After we bantered a few names around, like The Castle, Grey Nomads, Voyager, The Tardis,, well, you know how it goes,,, we FINALLY decided on SKYLAB2,, because it looks a bit spacey, has legs like the Luna module has everything that opens and shuts, and 2 large batteries,,,, and if one was to fall down the ladder its a good drop to mother earth.... let's just hope it doesn't have the same destiny as its namesake...

Last night was our first night sleeping in the loft,, it was very cozy and comfortable, after a hot sticky day the evening breeze kicked in, and because the window flaps were all open we had a beautiful cool night. as you can see in the pics it folded up nice and compact with minimal effort, easily a one-person job but another set of hands doesn't go astray..

STAY  TUNED... we head for salt lake in South Australia,, Lake Gairdner, on the 10th of march for the land speed racing.

Hi All, near and far, first and foremost we would like to thank you for taking an interest in our blog. we are excited to share this journey with you, and share how it is possible to live your dream on a shoestring budget.

The World according to  Pip and Vik,,.

We are just two West Aussies who are going to set out on a HUGE adventure, traveling around this great big beautiful, and wonderful land of ours with no "REAL PLAN",,  No " SET IN STONE" time limit,, and planning to Free-range and free camp whenever and where ever possible. Also coming on this great adventure with us are our two fur babies, Candy and Bella. They both are pretty well-pampered pooches but are never afraid of going out of their comfort zones,, welllllll,, maybe just a little....  Candy is 14yrs and Bella is 11yrs old, both are chihuahuas x.

A little about ourselves;

If it wasn't totally obvious Pip and Vik are our Nicknames,,,  our names are Phil and Vicky. Phil grew up in W.A . after coming to Australia from England with his parents in 1967. Phil has lived in Bunbury and the Sth West since.  Phil took out Australian Citizenship and served in the Australian Navy for almost 20 yrs.  He is now retired. Phil has 2 beautiful daughters and 6 grandkids. Vicky is an Aussie bred from Goulburn N.S.W and came across to W.A. in 1970, living most of her childhood in the Wheatbelt. Vicky's greatest achievement in life is the life-long career of Mother to a Son and 2 Daughters and Nanna to 8 grandees.

We have been together as a couple for a year, but have known each other for more than a decade. We are both very excited to be going on this huge life-changing adventure together,, BUT we are prepared to experience whatever this journey has to throw at Us, there will be lots of laughter,, a few tears,,, A few life lessons,,, And many WTF moments,,,, BUT,,,  A Trillion jaw-dropping,,,, eye-popping,,,, insanely Awesome,,, Forever Memorable Moments,,......

So now you know who WE are..... Please,,, don't be shy... We hope to hear from you,, and, Maybe, you can tell us about YOUR Adventures...

These photos were from our trip to Boranup Forest at Christmas 2022. The canvas we just about knackered so it's time for an upgrade. More to follow...

Today we went to Bunnings in Bunbury WA and bought a shitload of gear. 2 sheets of ply, paint, nuts, bolts, washers, etc, etc. $380 later we have all we need to start the overhaul on the trailer.

Friday will be the big day. Haul all the shit to Capel, where the trailer is stored. Photos will be put up by Saturday lunch ish.

Just a quick update .  We are pushing on trying to sell everything and get ready for the big day. The hardest thing is not the large items, ...
