 The Little Black kid.....

When we arrived at Mt Ives Station, soon after checking in, something happened that will remain with us forever.

A little white kid ( temp caretaker's son), presented himself carrying a little black kid in his arms. It was very limp, almost rag doll-like.

We asked where he found the little black kid, and his answer was under a bush. At the time of the find the black kid was all of a couple of days old, weak, dehydrated, malnourished, motherless, and clinging to life.

The mother of the little white kid sprung into action, saving the little black kid's life with fluids, vital nutrients, and lots of love.

Yet to be named and homeless, Vicky wanted to bring her home. I said no, how were we going to care for her.  Feeling the villain I reasoned with Vicky regards the long-term commitment and the financial burden on our resources.

After many attempts and a few sad eyes etc, Vicky agreed and the little black girl will stay at Mt Ives station. She will be loved and cared for,  given a name and native title.

She has been adopted by the station.

If you would like to see a photo of the little girl and Vicky please message us at the bottom of this page and we will send it to you.
